  1. Yes i do agree with what David Brooks said because no matter what anyone says, everyone needs a friend. Someone they can tell there secrets to and someone they could have a shoulder to cry on. When he says "Aristotle says that friendship is the cornerstone of society" i agree because without a friend or someone close enough to be your friend your nothing, you become bitter and selfish. But at the same time i disagree when he says "Second, friends usually bring out better versions of each other", because "friends" often bring out the worst in you instead of the best. They often try to bring you down instead of lift you up. In the article it also states that "In 1985, people tended to have about three really close friends, according to the General Social Survey", i agree with this statement because i myself have only about three really close friends that i know will always be there for me through thick and thin, and everyone is like that in a way. we all have a particular clique of people that we hang around and are more comfortable around.
